Example: Jenny sells CDs on Ebay. While walking through Wal-Mart she notices a stack of CDs on sale for 7.99 each. Thinking she could see them on Ebay for more than that, she decides to buy 16 of the CDs. What is the total cost of the 16 CDs? $127.84 The total cost for the 16 CDs would be $127.84 $7.99 x 16

Multiplying Decimals By Whole Numbers And Decimals Things To Remember: ▪ Start by thinking about how you multiply 2 whole numbers: (5 x 25) → 25 x 5 x 5 125 125 ▪ We multiply decimals and whole numbers in similar ways: we arrange the numbers vertically, and multiply the same way would if the numbers were whole numbers; ▪ When all multiplication is completed and the numerical answer finalized, you count the number of decimal places above the computation and make sure that many decimal places exist in your final answer.

Multiplying Decimals By Whole Numbers And Decimals Real World Example: Mr. Williams watches Family Guy. When Season 5 came out on DVD Mr. Williams went to Best Buy to buy it. If he had $45.00 in his wallet and the DVD set was on sale for $39.99, did he have enough money to buy the DVD, given a tax of 6% (6% is 0.06 as a decimal)? If yes, how much extra did he have? YES
