2. Adding Integers Rules  To add integers with the same sign: you add the absolute values and keep the sign.  Example A : 4 + 5 = 9  Example B: -4 + -5 = -9

4. Adding Integers Rules  To add integers with different sign: you subtract the absolute values and keep the sign of the number farthest from zero.  Example A : (-12) + 9 =  12 – 9 = 3  is farther from zero so the answer is (-3)

6. Subtracting Integers Rule  To subtract integers: Add its opposite  Then use addition rules  Example A: 8 – (-4)=  8 + (+4) = 12
