The microscope was invented during the 17 th century Robert Hooke was one of the first people to use a microscope. He looked at plants and a material called cork. He observed that the cork was made of hundreds of subdivisions and thought they looked like tiny rooms He called these cells History

Cells are the most elementary, basic unit of life Organisms can be as simple as a single cell or as complex as plants and animals.

Place a drop of methylene blue in the middle of the slide With the wide end of the toothpick, gently scrape the inside of your cheek Swirl the toothpick in the methylene blue dye Dilute the methylene with 2-3 drops of water Place a coverslip over the scrapings Blot any extra water away using the blotter paper Throw away toothpick Cheek Cells

What does this investigation suggest about the construction of the human body? Do you think all cells in the human body are the same? If all the millions of different cells in the human body are alive, how do they get the resources, like food and water, that they need to stay alive? It has been suggested that all life is aquatic. How do you think that applies to humans?
