3 Plot (definition) Plot is the pattern or sequence of events that make up a story.

4 1. Exposition Occurs at the beginning of a story. Characters are introduced. Setting of the story shown. Introduction to the main conflict (main problem).

5 2. Rising Action Conflicts are developed Interest or suspense builds

6 3. Climax Turning point of the story. Main character comes face to face with a conflict. Main character/events will change in some major way.

7 4. Falling Action Loose ends of the plot tied up. Conflict(s) and climax are taken care of… protagonist either wins or loses

8 5. Resolution Story comes to a reasonable ending.

9 Putting It All Together 1. Exposition 2. Rising Action 3. Climax 4. Falling Action 5. Resolution Beginning of Story ? End of Story
