2 Introduction This PowerPoint will show you information of how the ancients used numbers.

3 Historical facts In Arabic number system we have ten digits 0-9 you can make big numbers with only those ten digits. You can use the ten digits to count to nine the you combine them to make bigger numbers. We combine the numbers to make bigger numbers so that the numbers can continue and they never stop. The ancient Egyptians didn’t think of this method they use a simple line as one and the would take another line add it to the previous line to make two. (1= 2= ). +.

4 Important facts The ancients did not us then number zero because it means nothing in their number systems. Their number system would start form 1. The number zero was not interesting before because it meant nothing but now its very interesting because we use it even though it doesn’t mean anything its there just to hold a big numbers place value.

5 Zero in Europe Who brought zero to Europe? Leonardo Fibonacci Leonardo Fibonacci introduced the number ZERO to Europe from EGYPT. He is a person that made Europe realize there was a number before 1.

6 Conclusion summary!! In this unit we have learned about the number zero and how It has really benefited us. Before we started this unit most people did not know that the number zero is very useful and without it they wouldn’t be as much numbers. Nobody knew that the number zero was introduced from Africa ( Egypt to Europe). Before this unit I never knew all these things on the PowerPoint this unit has really help our knowledge. I never knew the number zero was important because it meant nothing I never knew the number zero was to hold big numbers place values. Without the number zero all the number with the number zero wouldn't be there.
