My project is all about blood. Blood is part of the circulatory system. Blood is important for us to live because we need it to survive. Michael Hua

Four major blood groups are:  Group A has only the A antigen on red cells.  Group B has only the B antigen on red cells.  Group AB has both A and B antigens on red cells.  Group O has neither A nor B antigens on red cells. Michael Hua

Anemia-People have a low number of red blood cells. Mild anemia often causes no symptoms. More severe anemia can cause fatigue, pale skin, and shortness of breath with exertion. Aplastic anemia- People with aplastic anemia, the bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells, including red blood cells.

Heredity is the passing on of characteristics from one generation to the next. You inherit traits. Traits are physical characteristics. You resemble your parents because you inherited your hair and skin color, nose shape, height, and other traits.

Blood type is an example of a trait determined by a single gene. Each of us has two copies of the gene for blood type on chromosome. The genetic constitution of an organism is called the “genotype”. The “phenotype” refers to the visible properties of an organism that are produced by the interaction of the genotype and the environment. Michael Hua

AAbout 1 pint of blood and several small test tubes are collected from each donor TThe bag, test tubes and the donor record are labeled with an identical bar code label to keep track of the donation. TThe donation is stored in iced coolers until it is transported to a Red Cross center.

Blood transfusion is a medical treatment that replaces blood lost through injury, surgery, or disease. The blood goes through a tube from a bag to an intravenous catheter and into your vein. Michael Hua

Blood type tests are done before a person gets a blood transfusion and to check a pregnant woman’s blood type. Human blood is typed by certain markers on the surface of red blood cells. Blood type may also be done to see if two people are likely to be blood relatives. Michael Hua

In conclusion we need blood to survive so that way we can be healthy and strong. And we need that. Blood is important for us because our circulatory system moves blood around the body. Blood carries oxygen and glucose and it takes away the carbon dioxide.
