Composition Notebook College-ruled No spiral notebooks You will need one per semester Highlighters Glue Tape (for page extenders) Colored Pencils Markers Scissors Materials
10
No ripped out pages or torn corners No doodling that doesn’t relate to classwork Each page needs a date, title, and page number Everyone’s ISN must match! Update your Table of Contents daily Maintaining Your Interactive Student Notebook
11
Your notebook will be 30% of your total grade each semester. Your notebooks will be evaluated unannounced and periodically. Each notebook evaluation will be a notebook “test” score. Therefore, it is imperative you maintain and bring your notebook to class everyday! Grades
12
If you forgot your notebook when a notebook check is announced, you may bring it the very next day, but it will be deducted 30%. After two calendar days, no points can be earned for that notebook evaluation. Any right side assignment that is out of order will automatically be deducted 10% for that particular notebook evaluation. Deductions for Lateness and Lack of Order
13
The first thing you need to do is check my moodle website on the PHS webpage. Go to PHS high school home page student online learning Eng 3-4 Starr This will give you an outline of the day’s events and the homework assigned. You need to see me before or after school when you return to school. I will keep a master copy of the class’ interactive notebook with the formatting in order for you update your notebook. This is very important! Do not fall behind in keeping your notebook current. Remember, notebook checks are unannounced. What if I’m absent?
14
You will need to immediately start another notebook. You will need to view and copy the class’ notebook outside of regular class. You will need to make up the LSAs. The percentage you are currently earning will be used as a temporary Interactive Notebook score until you are back on track. What if I lose it?
15
You will be held responsible for day to day assignments, homework, & Cornell notes. At the end of each week, stamps are highlighted and counted for credit. Late stamps are never an option. I will grade your daily assignments in class based on this rubric: Got Stamps? 3 Points (a WOW product) all requirements are evident and EXCEEDED the product is VERY neatly done and EXTREMELY well- organized the product shows LOTS of creativity completed on time 2 Points (what is EXPECTED) the requirements are evident the product is neatly done and organized the product shows some creatively completed on time 1 Point (One or More Parts are Missing) few of the requirements are evident the product is fairly neatly done and partly organized the product shows little creativity completed on time
