Prefixes are added to the beginning of a root or base word. Some examples are: re-, un-, non-, and dis-

Prefixes Prefixes change the meaning of the base word. Example: steady and unsteady Steady—means still, not moving Unsteady– means Not steady—that you are swaying or moving.
