2 2 How to Login – Desktops/Laptops 1.Make sure all other programs are closed! 2.Adjust audio on the device before opening the secure browser with earphones already plugged in. *Students will be prompted to perform audio checks before testing but if a device is muted you will not be able to unmute the device once logged into the secure browser. 3.Open the “CA Secure Browser 7.2” (Double Click)     1.Students will then enter their State-SSID number (ex: CA- 0123456789), First Name and Session ID (Provided by your Teacher). 2.Press “Sign In” 3.Follow additional prompts to begin the test

3 1.Click the ‘Apps’ button on the lower left part of the login screen. **Make sure you do not sign into the Chromebook and ONLY click on the Apps and then  AIRSecureTest Icon (Lower LEFT of the Screen [next to ShutDown, see next slide])** 2.Adjust audio on the device before opening the secure browser with earphones plugged in. 3.Click    4.Students will then enter their State-SSID number (ex: CA- 0123456789), First Name and Session ID (Provided by your teacher). 5.Press “Sign In” 6.Follow additional on screen prompts to begin test 3 How to Login – Chromebooks

8 8 Audio Troubleshooting – PC/Laptop Audio should be plug-and-play If not: – Unplug headset, see if audio plays – Plug headset back in – Click on arrow on Windows Tray 1.Turn volume up 2.Check Mixer for Device 3.Right-click on speaker – Choose Playback Devices – Try another headset If this does not work, try a spare Once in SBAC portal, cannot use Windows settings – set up before test begins

10 PLEASE be RESPONSIBLE and take care of you EARBUDS! Earbuds are to be stored in plastic bags labeled with your names and placed in the classroom container (Clear Box) for storage. 10 Managing Earbuds

12 Universal Tools: Calculator 12 The calculator is only available in the Grades 6-8 Math tests.

13 Universal Tools: Digital Notepad 13 This tool can be used to take notes about an item.

14 Universal Tools: Expandable Passages 14 You can click the arrow button at the top of the passage to expand the passage.

15 Universal Tools: Highlighter 15 You can click and drag the cursor over text, right-click, and select “Highlighter” to highlight text.

16 Universal Tools: Mark For Review 16 Students can use this tool to mark items that they would like to come back to later.

17 Universal Tools: Strikethrough 17 Students can cross out answer choices by right-clicking an answer choice and then clicking “Strikethrough”.

18 Universal Tools: Writing Tools (i.e. bold, italics, bullets, undo/redo, spell check) for some ELA items 18

22 Designated Supports: Text-to-Speech 22 Students can access text-to-speech (if they have been given access to this support in TIDE) by clicking the talk bubble icon at the top of the item and selecting “Speak Question”.

23 Accommodations: American Sign Language 23 Students with this accommodation can view test content translated into ASL by a human signer.

24 Accommodations: Text-to-Speech for ELA Items 24
