METHODS OF TRAINING You will need to make notes on these Methods. They have links with principles of training and components of fitness but are also very different!

CONTINUOUS TRAINING It is an activity which uses large muscles groups and you do not rest. It develops cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?

INTERVAL TRAINING It is training which has breaks built in to allow the performer to recover so they can continue to work at high intensity levels. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?

CIRCUIT TRAINING A method of physical conditioning in which one moves from one exercise to another, usually in a series of different stations or pieces of equipment. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?

WEIGHT TRAINING A form of strength training where you can use free weights or machine weights. You complete a series of sets and repetitions. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?

CROSS TRAINING Combines two or more types of exercise. Performers whose activities demand a wide range of fitness may use this method. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?

FARTLEK TRAINING This is another form of continuous training. It involves running at different paces and over different terrains. Is it aerobic or anaerobic? Is it continuous or intermittent?
