4 Industrial problems presented Days 1 and 2Days 3 and 4 Day 5 Group discussion Maths questions for further discussion Team work Formulated Maths problems SAMBa PhD project SAMBa Aligned PhD project IMI project Solved

5 Presentations Partners and academics present high level problems Group discussions Groups are predetermined – see your name badge. There will be a group chair (number in red on name badge) Make sure everyone contributes and keep discussion focussed Groups come up with mathematical questions from problems Feedback ideas Team work Teams are formed based on student choice from questions Made up of students, academics, partners Some academics will move between teams, and run tutorials if needed Splinter groups can also form

6 Principles for ITT participants An Integrative Think Tank (ITT) is a free-flowing, open forum with a variety of people who are working together to formulate mathematical problems. It is expected that: All material initially presented shall be treated as non-confidential, unless stated otherwise The outputs of discussions and the routes to formulation of problems shall not be shared with those not participating in the ITT without express permission of interested parties As it is important to understand the full context of the problems presented, all questions are valid and should be treated with respect As students are the focus of the ITT, they should be encouraged to lead discussions and present their own ideas, within a supportive environment Technical reports will be produced by the SAMBa students from the ITT, which should be referenced when developing projects following the ITT and for all projects which build on the ideas generated.
