3 Develop and broaden the integration of all kinds of resources used by museums/other heritage domains Focus on terminologies, semantic and multilingual tools Work in close cooperation with WP3, WP5 and WP7 Work supporting integration of resources into Europeana Capitalize on the work done by the “Interoperability Expert group”(EC) on standards / other European projects OVERALL OBJECTIVE

4 Explore the current practices in the field of terminologies adopted by European museums Guarantee the semantic interoperability of these terminologies with Europeana  Use a cross-domain approach Identify the multilingual issues: survey and integration of existing multilingual tools  Focus on the current achievements for integration of resources : existing tools, existing multilingual thesauri Ensure alignment between museums terminologies –thesauri – Athena SKOS thesaurus  Recommendations and guidelines for mapping and “SKOSify” existing multilingual resources; input for the WP7 GOALS

5 Terminology and Multilingualism: What is the situation concerning mutilingualism and terminology resources at national level? What are the lacks or specific points you would like to focus on in the framework of this working group? Who can you appoint as an expert of the terminology group? Roundtable

8 WP4 | The survey First Results: 26 forms filled in on line 11 countries 2 countries (Slovenia and Cyprus) don’t use terminology resources Mainly for the use of museums professionnals and museums users

10 First Results: 50% of the terminology described are multilingual Domain specific expert : 80% Availability on the Web: 54,5% Free or minimal costs for obtaining the terminology : 80%

17 WP4 | Contacts in Europe The European Film Gateway http://www.europeanfilmgateway.eu/ The EFG project will develop a portal providing direct access to about 790,000 digital objects including films, photos, posters, drawings, sound material and text documents. Workpackage on the content enrichment and semantic interoperability

18 WP4 | Contacts in Europe GAMA http://www.gama-gateway.eu/ A central online portal to different European media art collections for the interested public, for curators, artists, academics, researchers, and mediators

19 WP4 | Contacts in Europe Open Access Publishing in European Networks http://www.oapen.org/ Project in Open Access publishing for humanities and social sciences monographs.

20 WP4 | Contacts in Europe APENET http://www.apenet.eu Objective: to gather the existing digital archival content of Europe and make it available on-line. The aim is to build a network of European archives that can offer online access.
