Awards How is my child entered? Swim Meet Guidelines Swimmers MUST: Swim in ALL the events the coach has entered you for. 10 & Under swimmers must also check- in with a Team Parent & sit in the designated area to allow the Team Parent to help you get to your event on time. 11 & Up swimmers; listen to the announcer and check-in to the ready benches ON TIME! Do not play in the heat bench area or jump from bench to bench. After each swim, check that the scribe has correctly noted your name. Check-in with a coach after each swim. Relays are IMPORTANT to the WHOLE TEAM as well as your other team- mates on the relay. DO NOT leave and MISS IT!!! Show your TEAM SPIRIT! Cheer on FOST Team-mates. Watch what you eat between swims, stay hydrated. Candy and soda are discouraged. Never Boo the other team. Families MUST: Encourage their swimmers. Not bring ice chests or chairs onto the pool deck during swim meets. Be considerate of all families, please make room on the bleachers for others to watch their swimmers. Check your area and pick up trash before leaving the meet. More info at: www.fostbarracudas.org Although Team Suits are not mandatory, FOST DOES encourage it. Our official Team outfitter: FOST DUAL swim meets are held each Saturday beginning May 10, 2014 thru June 29 2014 (a full schedule is listed on the back). The first event is swum at 8:30am, however swimmers MUST arrive prior to the posted meet check-in times. Maps are available to print from the FOST website: www.fostbarracudas.org Meet Schedules & Location Where can I find Meet Results? What is my child swimming? Swimmers are entered into each meet by the Head Coach. The FOST cutoff for meet absences and stroke requests is the Monday before each meet. A complete set of Meet Entry guidelines is in the Parent Handbook. An Events List is posted 1-day prior to each meet; - on the team notice board - on the FOST website under Schedules & Meets Check the notice board to for both individual & relay events that your child may be entered in. A regular dual meet consists of 78 events, alternating between boy & girl events. Check-in & Warm-ups Swimmers MUST: Sign-in at the Check-In table located in the Team Area immediately upon arrival. Check-in on time to avoid being scratched from the meet. (removed from the meet event list) WARM-UP! Warm-ups are important, do not miss them! Meet Results with swimmer’s times are posted as soon as possible during the meet or soon afterwards. Meet Results will also be posted on the FOST Website 1 day following the meet. Meet Results from a sanctioned NWAL Meet (Dual Meets & Divisional) qualify as a swimmer’s official time. Place Ribbons are awarded to the first six finishers in each individual event (not heat). 1 st thru 3 rd place are awarded for relays. For meets held at FOST, Heat Ribbons are awarded to all 8 & Under finishers. Place & Time Improvement Ribbons are handed out to swimmers at practices following the meets. Parent Support Parent Volunteers are NEEDED to prepare for and run the meet. Parents please: Help with set-up on the Friday night before a HOME meet. Check-in with the Volunteer Coordinator to see what help is needed during the meet. Stay and help with clean-up and tear down at the end of the meet. Something to sit on; tarp, blanket, sleeping bag, lawn chairs, etc. 4.Team T-shirt and change of clothes, swimmers get soggy through out the day 5.Games: travel games, coloring books, cards, etc…to pass the time between events 6.Food: be sure to plan ahead bring a cooler with nutritious snacks & drinks 7.Concessions are available for food and drink purchase if you prefer to buy food. Try to encourage swimmer’s to stay away from foods high in sugar or fats 8.Summer League swimming can get HOT, please be sure to stay hydrated 9.Sun Screen; be sure to protect both you and your swimmer 10.Bug Spray; some pools, including FOST do have mosquitoes!
