Blackin is DSP BF537@600MHz – Max 1200MMACs High performance for audio and speech codecs High speed bus to audio chips with DMA channels Blackfin is CPU Useful peripherals such as SPI, I2C, SPORT, PPI, IrDA, UART, CAN, MAC, … It is supported in Linux main line. Based on uClinux, we may use many drivers that Linux used. Blackfin: CPU+DSP This is why we select Blackfin.

6 Why Asterisk It is open source Linux PBX software. It has all free source code. It is easy to port to Blackfin+uClinux platform. It supports a wide range of protocols from H.323, SIP, MGCP, and Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP). It is used wider and wider. It gives customers the potential to customize their own IP-PBX applications Customers can replace the codecs in Asterisk with their own optimized codecs. Customers can make further development based on Asterisk, for example, background administration system. Customers can modify the code as they want.
