Spring 2016 Verify that student’s course selection is on track with intended career and college goals Identify Top College Selections Take the SAT (June) and/or ACT test in June Register with NCAA Clearing House if student plans to play Division I or II sports in college.

NCAA topics Contact NCAA through their website. Sign up as an interested athlete. Marian’s Registrar, Mrs. Quiett, will be contact for your Junior Year Transcript (6 semesters) and again after 8 semesters of study.

Naviance = Tool for Students & Parents to explore colleges, compare choices and obtain data on schools of interest. Parents Students were introduced to web based program in freshman year. Survey of personality & interests completed freshman year (can resubmit responses) Students need to complete brag sheet and resume. Naviance has a survey for parents to complete about their student (old brag sheet) Log in with password- contact your School Counselor if you don’t know your login information Please complete before school resumes in August. College Visits Plan to visit colleges during Summer. Call Admissions Office to schedule a time for a campus tour, observe a class, meet with students and faculty as well as admissions staff. Take notes on each visit. Marian School Policy regarding College Visits- Handbook –Notify attendance –Bring signed document from admissions.

Essays Essay prompts for Common APP are available online. The “Describe yourself” question –Personal story –Challenges overcome –Accomplishments The “Explain why you want to attend our college” question The “Discuss an issue” question

Teacher References Chose 1-2 teachers that can talk of your taking on challenges in their classes. Make request of teacher personally before the end of this school year. Teachers will need students to have a survey and resume completed and submitted on Naviance before they are able to complete the reference letter.

Additional Tasks Take advantage of summer work, growth, and/or enrichment opportunities. Check colleges of interest and learn about their summer enrichment programs.
