What are some “bright spots” examples where things are working well? What are the biggest challenges to parent engagement? Are there technology-specific barriers? What are some ideas that might improve parent communication and engagement at your school? Is there anything we need to do differently or better to engage more parents and keep them engaged?

Panel Discussion Description of Lorton Station Family Support Department– who is involved, purpose of team, meeting structure, actions/impact What specific work did your team perform to make that difference? How do you think this support team structure impacts student support and family engagement differently than traditional models? In what ways does your team bridge the home-school gap for families? What role does technology play in relation to outreach and communication with families? What are some specific patterns or trends that seem to be emerging with technology in your work? How does your team support/encourage parents to move from engagement to leadership within the school? What do you to identify and develop parent leaders? What is one idea that you want us to take back to our schools to share with teams?

FSD Builds Shared Understandings of Student/Family Needs The FSD meets weekly on Monday mornings from 9:30am – 10:30am. The following types of issues and services are discussed: Family Engagement Events Basic family needs and referrals Collaboration on support services for families
