2. “THE STORY OF EXODUS” The Exodus was the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s covenant with Abraham. –The Exodus shaped Israel’s psyche. –The Exodus fashioned Israel’s memory.

3. “THE STORY OF EXODUS” –The Exodus became the pattern for Israel’s history from the time of the Judges through the monarchy. There are many parallels between Elijah and Moses. Elisha’s ministry continued to recall the memories of Moses and the Exodus.

4. “THE STORY OF EXODUS” –The Exodus also gave Israel hope for the future. 1 But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. (Isa. 43:1)

5. Isaiah 43:2 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

6. Isaiah 43:3 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.

14. Exodus 19:5 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,

15. Exodus 19:6 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

16. 1 Peter 2:9 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

18. Deuteronomy 8:2 2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

19. Deuteronomy 8:3 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

20. Matthew 4:3-4 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
