2 Project Scenario  In preparation for your band’s first concert, you have been asked to produce a series of promotional material;  Band flyer  Magazine cover  Newsletter for your fanclub

3 Band Flyer  What information do you need to include in your flyer?  Look at the flyer examples and annotate all the different features you can find. Some of the key features to look out for include;  Content  Event title  Names of performing bands  Time and date  Entry cost  House style  Colours  Images  Font  Theme  Location of flyer (on a wall, holding etc.)  Text based  Image based

8 Design your flyer – 1 st draft  Create an initial design for your flyer by combining a graphics software with publisher.  Add a copy or print screen here;

9 Feedback  Ask your test buddy for feedback about your flyer; How does the flyer promote the band? Does the flyer have a theme to it? E.g. text, image, cartoon, holding, on a wall etc.? What colours are used? Are they effective? What are the best three features of the flyer? What 2 things could be improved?

10 Improvements What changes would you make to your flyer and how would they make it better? ImprovementsReason

11 Design your flyer – Final  Make the improvements to your flyer.  Add a copy or print screen here.  Stretch: Annotate the improvements you made.

12 Flyer Review What features from the checklist did you include in your flyer? Did you add anything else? What theme did you choose? How does this suit your band? Name a problem that you had and explain how you solved the problem. What was your feedback from your test buddy? What improvements did you make to your flyer after feedback? What impact has this had on your flyer?

17 Create your own flyer  Create your own flyer. I t must include the following features; LevelTaskComplete Essential To create a magazine cover that promotes your band. The cover should include a title At least one image of your band or a band member. Stretch The cover should look realistic and include additional articles about other bands. Challenge The magazine cover should look professional and include features you would expect to see on the cover of a professional sports magazine such as; clear lead story, side stories, consistent house style (font, colours, etc.) and additional features such as bar codes and pricing.

23 Creating a newsletter – Band tour!  The band will be setting off for their first ever tour soon!  They have decided to travel around Europe and play in the capitals of 5 different countries!  Each concert must be a week apart so that the band have time to travel and prepare properly... They may also want to take in the local sights and attractions!  Prior to the tour, one of your band members has agreed to do an exclusive interview for the band newsletter.  To promote the tour, you must include all this information in the band’s newsletter.

27 Create your own Newsletter  Your newsletter must include the following features; LevelTaskComplete Essential Band logo and a clear title (banner is optional) An interview with a band member At least one other article Suitable headings for both articles Information on the band’s tour (dates and venues) No spelling or grammatical errors Stretch Consistent house style throughout Professional look to the newsletter Challenge The interview should be of a high quality, with the use of full sentences by both the interviewer and interviewee. It should include details about how the band formed and their ambitions for the future.
