CompX Composite Supplier Material Exchange
2
What is the exchange? The mission of the Composites Exchange is to provide companies an alternative to Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), long lead times, and extra materials in storage, that are hindering opportunities for small to medium size composite companies. Working collaboration of composite based companies to help meet the short term, time sensitive purchases, and are critical to business. Time sensitive materials, with MOQ issues, are the keys focal points. This would include composite materials, honeycomb core, and adhesives.
3
Why the need? Scenario 1: ACTA is submitting a proposal to Spirit for five (5) tear down articles on the CH-53K program. They are able to cost each unit competitively, however, the minimum order quantities (MOQ) to get to that pricing will cost them $137,000 and twenty (20) weeks in lead times. Scenario 2: Bell Helicopter has an urgent need for a specialized honeycomb that has been quoted with a lead time of 24 weeks. Their need is less than the minimum order and their deadline does not support the 24 week time frame. Scenario 3: Company Y purchased a large amount of carbon prepreg for a military program. Due to circumstances beyond their control, their statement of work was downsized. They now have a large supply of material that they are not using in their fabrication process.

Why the need? The three BIG question that are asked with every new composite RFQ: 1.WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS? 2.WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITIES? 3.HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? Currently the BIGGEST barrier to competing in the marketplace. Scenario 1: ACTA is submitting a proposal to Spirit for five (5) tear down articles on the CH-53K program. They are able to cost each unit competitively, however, the minimum order quantities (MOQ) to get to that pricing will cost them $137K. Step 1: Submit a request to the Exchange for the needed materials. Step 2: The Exchange reaches out to all of the registered customers. Scenario 2:
