What you chose to fill the gap with will determine the quality and direction of your life.

There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. John 3: 1-2

There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak to Jesus John 3: 1-2

“Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evident that God is with you.” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” John 3: 2-3

“What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mothers womb and be born again?” John 3: 4

“Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ John 3: 5-7

“The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the spirit.” John 3: 8

“How are these things possible?” Nicodemus asked. Jesus replied, “You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things? I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you wont believe our testimony. But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things? John 3: 9-12

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3: 16

Joseph of Arimathea (he was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, because he was intimidated by the Jews) petitioned Pilate to take the body of Jesus. Pilate gave permission. So Joseph came and took the body. Nicodemus, who had first come to Jesus at night, came now in broad daylight carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. They took Jesus’ body and wrapped it in linen with the spices. John 19:38-39

Sunday 5 May 2013 If #Jesus used twitter | @PlanetEarth Steve Fenning and Duncan Banks Twitter has become so popular because you only have 140 characters in which to ‘tweet’ what you want to say. You have to keep your message short and make it memorable. Nobody did that better than Jesus. Some of the most profound, life changing things Jesus said were 140 characters or less. In this series we are going to download some first century ‘Jesus tweets’. God so loved the world… Arguably, His most famous tweet ever. Why is it so famous? Why does someone seem to always have a John 3: 16 banner at big sports events? Why is it more memorable than all the other words Jesus spoke? Maybe it’s got something to do with the fact that the whole of human existence comes down to these few words. And just maybe it means that the God of heaven is a lot closer than you think...
