John 10:27-30 (KJV) 27)My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28)And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29)My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30)I and my Father are one.

Definition “All believers are eternally secure in Jesus Christ. They are born again, made new creatures in Christ, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, assuring their perseverance in good works. A special providence watches over them, and they are kept by the power of God.”

Confusion When it comes to the subject of eternal salvation the views are so numerous we couldn’t begin to cover them in this or many sermons. I guess we could sum up those views in two statements. A person is saved either by doing “good deeds or works, or one is saved by God’s grace and grace alone. And if one is saved by God’s grace alone apart from good works then they are kept by God’s grace alone, apart from good works.

Explanation This Promise is Personal ( MY MY ME I MY ME MY I MY) This Promise is Particular (My SHEEP) This Promise is Permanent (I give unto them ETERNAL life…no man is able to pluck them out of MY hand…)

Important Contrasts Security versus Assurance Logic versus Scripture Tradition versus Truth
