Ideas for Pre - K thru 1 Pre-K Students can drive Dash to the correct alphabet letter. Match numbers announced. Turn robots in the directions given. (forward, backward, right, and left) Kindergarten/1st grade Students work in teams to spell vocabulary words. (Taking turns driving from one letter to another) Write a story about Dash and Dot and then have them act it out by recording voices for each character. Students create a community for Dot and Dash to live in and have their needs met. Students use Dash to learn measurements and speed. (Programming Dash to move in Blockly)
7
More Examples... 2nd Grade: (Weather) Students were studying weather and they had to create a scenario to get Dash to Dot overcoming obstacles and weather issues. (Students read articles, worked on vocabulary, and worked through a STEM activity.)
8
Upper Grades (3rd-5th) Students can: 1.Create a setting 2.Solve geometric challenges using Blockly 3.Perform plays/ Readers Theatre 4.Program the robots to accomplish a mission. 5.Reinforce directional instructions by programing the robot based on the written work. 6.Evaluate self and peers and their ability to work together as a team. 7.Work on problem solving skills as they have to go back and improve on their work.
