Marijuana Effects Heart- Marijuana increases heart rate Lungs- Marijuana smoke contains 50-70% more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke Brain- Marijuana affects thinking, learning, memory, reaction time and sensory and time perception Reproductive System- Marijuana can affect menstrual cycles, sperm count, sexual development and pregnancy Long Term Affects- Marijuana use can lead to anxiety and panic disorders Addiction Potential- Psychological and physical effects such as irritability, sleeplessness and anxiety have been observed in users trying to stop

6. Addiction Addiction is a process where a person becomes dependent on a substance. They first feel a chemical high (euphoria). They then build a tolerance to the substance and need more and more of the drug to get the same effect. After a while, they no longer get the effects of the drug and will eventually need the drug just to feel normal. Without the drug, they will experience symptoms of anxiety and physical withdrawal (dysphoria).
