FIXING the WORLD Technical Training

1. Definition. 2. Working Principles. 3. CE Marking 4. ETA´s. Technical Training Iván Martínez Contents.

A system which serves to transmit a load from a material to be fixed to a base material. 1.- Cuerpo 2.- Cuña 1 Definition Technical Training Iván Martínez Installation procedure: o Drill hole diameter. o Drill hole cleaning. o Curing time. o Positioning Temperature. o Torques. o Suitable expansion. o Bolt Lengths. o Specific Tools. System = Anchor + Installation Procedure

2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION 2.2 BY ADAPTATION 2.3 BY EXPANSIÓN Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION Drill hole clearing. Suitable mixture. Temperature Influence Curing time before loading the anchor. Critical points: The load is transmitted to the base material by adhesion in the anchor- base material joint, inside the drilled hole Threaded rod Chemical mortar Base material Anchor Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION No expansion loads are transmitted in the base material. Critical edge distance and distances between anchors are reduced. Fixation is obtained all along the embedment depth of the anchor. Better behaviour when fixing vibrating elements. Curing even in wet or flooded holes. Advantages: Capsule range: Hammer capsule Chemical capsule CAGO CAQU Technical Training Iván Martínez

Cartridge range /& uses: 2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION Technical Training Iván Martínez

Fixing reinforcement bars: 2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION Technical Training Iván Martínez

Fixing machines: 2. Working principles 2.1 BY ADHESION Technical Training Iván Martínez

Chemical cartridges in hollow materials: 2. Working principles 2.2 BY ADAPTATION The anchor adapts to the internal shape of the base material. Direct concrete screw anchor Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.2 BY ADAPTATION No expansion loads are introduced in the base material. Lower critical edge distance and distance between anchors. Removable anchor. Similar loads to the MT- expansion anchor Direct concrete screw anchor - MAGNER: Advantages : Enough base material quality / resistance. Impact driver required for a quick installation. Critical points : Drill [mm] Tension Load [kg] Shear load [kg] 6 x 505287202 16 x 160141.1771.508 Technical Training Iván Martínez

Examples: 2. Working principles 2.2 BY ADAPTATION Railing Balcony Technical Training Iván Martínez

Chemical cartridges in hollow materials: 2. Working principles 2.2 BY ADAPTATION No expansion loads are introduced in the base material. Lower critical edge distance and distance between anchors. Advantages : Suitable mixture. Temperature and curing time. Take care of the stability of the brick-wall itself. Critical points : Technical Training Iván Martínez

Examples: 2. Working principles 2.2 BY ADAPTATION Air conditioning system Fixing Stones Ventilated facades Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.3 BY EXPANSION. Some element of the anchor is expanded during or after installation, causing pressure against the walls of the base material When carried out by controlled torque, a dynamometric torque wrench is needed. Higher distances between concrete edges and anchors. Slight displacements may occur once the load is applied. Ensure suitable expansion. Critical points: Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.3 BY EXPANSION. Easy installation. Not very sensitive to installation conditions (dust, water, etc). Widely known and used (very popular in the market). Advantages: ExpansionAdhesion Technical Training Iván Martínez

2. Working principles 2.3 BY EXPANSION. MT Family range: MTH - ETA Option 7 Tension load [kg] Shear load [kg] M6 x 45306297 M24 x 2602.6404.729 Medium – high loads. Technical Training Iván Martínez MTA - Without ETA

For use in cracked an non cracked concrete. Zinc plated Fire resistance. R120. Letter in the edge indicating the anchor length. Technical Training Iván Martínez MT Family range: 2. 22 3. CE MARKING 3.1 DEFINITION. Technical Training Iván Martínez What is? Where it is set? System to ensure that a product placed on the EU market, meet certain safety-related characteristics, and meets the relevant harmonized technical specification (EN or ETA). CPD. Construction Product Directive 89/106/CEE. CPR. Construction Product Regulation 305/2011. July 1, 2013. It is NOT a QUALITY Label It is NOT an ORIGIN Label It is the Result of an action Which products are affected? Products with harmonized european standard (EN) Products with European Approval. ETA

CEN CPD/CPR E.O.T.A. Essential Requirements EN Harmonized Standard ETA European Approval MARCADO CE Construction product to be permanently installed If an EN standard exists COMPULSORY CE marking through ETA´s OPTIONAL 3. CE MARKING 3.2 Ways. Technical Training Iván Martínez

4. ETA´s 4.1 Definition. How can an ANCHOR get CE marking? European Technical Approvals (ETA´s) European Organization for Tecnical Approvals 28 Official Institutes from 23 countries of EU ETA´s are certifications of the features of an anchor which are issued by Official Institutes from different countries of the European Union. www.eota.eu Technical Training Iván Martínez

4. ETA´s 4.1 Definition. Tests required for an approval Resistance tests: Suitability tests (in abnormal conditions of use). Technical Training Iván Martínez Tension, shear, and combined loads. Concrete resistance from C20/25 to C50/60. Minimum distances to the edge and between anchors. Periodical production controls. 12 Approval Options. More than 850 tests.

4. ETA´s 4.2 Approval Options. Technical Training Iván Martínez Opción 1: MTP, SLRT Opción 7: MTH, MOVISE, MOPOLY, MOPOSE, MOEPSE, CAQU, TNUX Opción 8: SLVT
