2 1. Assign a word to each student. Students have two days to locate the word in a newspaper or internet article. 2. Students will print the article and highlight the word every time it is used. 3. Students will present the article to the class. The student will discuss with the class how the word is used and if it is used in the same context as used in class.

3 1.Have students create a crossword on graph paper. 2.Tell students to make the key first in pencil. 3.Students will then create the puzzle from the key. 4.Students create clues. Tell students they cannot just copy definitions. 5. After completed, student finds another student who is finished. Puzzles are traded and the puzzle creator checks and explains which answers are wrong.

8 As students enter the classroom, give each student a word or a definition to wear around their neck. Have them find their partner for the day.

9 Post half of words on one wall and half on the other wall. Hand a student a big ball of yarn and tape. Have the student tape the yarn to one word and then walk across to the opposite wall and tape string to a word that relates. Student will explain how words are related and then hand string to another student. Continue until all words are used.
