2. “Cardio” is Greek for “Heart” “Vascular” relates to “tubes” The cardiovascular system transports blood around the body. It carries nutrients, gases, and hormones to body cells and waste products from body cells.

4. The Heart The heart is the pump that sends blood around the body. Your heart is about the size of your fist and is almost in the center of your chest.
