1 Concept Ideas These should be quick basic 3D sketches. You should come up with 15-20 different ideas Each sketch should be different, experimental, realistic, solve the problem and function you have been researching in your project Annotations are not essential but you may include one or two to highlight how the product functions and satisfies the task. 2 Idea 1Idea 2Idea 3 Each design must have: sketched assembly drawings, annotated materials, material properties making it suitable, finishes, positives and negatives, refer to specification and spec. check box for each design Each design must show how you intend to manufacture it! What techniques and processes you will use! Each design must be numbered. You can also use Sketch up to create the ideas Specification points Purpose Aesthetics Target market Size Ergo/ anthro materials Manu Safety/ regs Enviro life cycle Social Make sure you have annotated about all of these things Example sheet Each design must have smaller thumbnail sketches showing construction YOU MUST explain if each design meets what you have written in the specification. Use a spec. check box (example on left) to tick them off if needed! Name Candidate NumberRoyal Hospital SchoolCentre Number: 19215Unit 2Task:Page Number

Why is this? What specific points from all of your ideas will you take forward? etc Name Candidate NumberRoyal Hospital SchoolCentre Number: 19215Unit 2Task:Page Number

6 Place chosen initial idea here. Label it A* Examples! You need to use your chosen initial idea as a base design. You need to change that design into a new IMPROVED DESIGN On this page it is VITAL that you begin to explain in DETAIL how each part of the design will be constructed/assembled. This is classed as ‘development’ work. TIPS 1.Small drawing of full design in the centre. 2.Arrows coming from central design showing individual component manufacture/assembly/joints etc 3.Further small drawings from assembly sketches 4.Annotate to explain the drawings/processes/materials/tools and equipment used. 7 Client Feedback: What does your client think about your development? Do they agree with them? What changes would they make? Name Candidate NumberRoyal Hospital SchoolCentre Number: 19215Unit 2Task:Page Number 3D Modelling and Prototyping Photo 1 of model Comparison of model against key specification points Compare your model against your key spec. points to see if it is successful. This can be done as a table. TIPS 1.Make sure that your models are to a scale and in proportion. 2.Make the model as accurate and detailed as possible. 3.Show photos of your model at different angles and with a person using it if appropriate. 4.Compare the model against your key specification points. 5.Get honest client feedback. 6.Give a detailed personal review of how success the design is after you have modelled it. Do you need to make alterations to it? Do you need to change a component or the size of it? Photo 2 of model Photo 3 of model Why have you made a 3D model? What do you need to find out from you 3D model? Have you made any desigbn alterations when making you 3D model? My feedback: How successful is the design after you have modelled it? Do you need to make alterations to it? Do you need to change a component or the size of it? Results of 3D modelling: What changes do you need to make to the design? Why do you need to make this changes? Who wants this changes? How will then change make the design more successful ?

8 Design proposal How was each specification point met through the final design? Purpose Function Performance requirement Quality Components Form/ aesthetics Target market Sustainability and product life-cycle User requirements Processes Ergonomics Material and components requirement Scale of production Construction techniques Manufacturin g/ tools You must have 3 views, front, side, top. They must be to a scale 1:2 1:4 etc. Name Candidate NumberRoyal Hospital SchoolCentre Number: 19215Unit 2Task:Page Number Orthographic drawing Cutting/materials, components List

9 It must be drawn using Google SKETCH UP, a free download! You must show the product from different angles, show different components, different fixings/fittings, functions and how it is to be used. You must annotate the design to explain each part. You must explain what you have changed from your development to help you achieve that design.
