Monitoring Process Letter of Notification- 30 Days prior to review. DPI Lead Monitor- 2 Days after notification LEA/Charter School- set up webinar or conference. Onsite or Desk Review- Documentation reviewed, interviews, exit review of preliminary feedback Monitoring Report- Approx. 30 Days after the visit. LEA Response-Approx. 30 Days after receipt of report. Final Report- All findings have been addressed.

Monitoring Reminders Private schools must be provided with an opportunity to meet and discuss participation Parent notifications (e.g., right-to-know) must be sent in a timely manner each year Annual meeting must be held early in the school year Highly Qualified Teacher Plans must be in place

Consolidated Application Update All components must be approved at the same time- no longer in isolation. Process: All federal program components are approved by DPI Program Administrators and final approval is done by DPI Division Administrator. Rural Education Achievement Program Applications (RLIS and SRSA REAP-Flex)

ESEA Update NC’s ESEA Flexibility Request Approved March 31, 2015 Extends waivers through end of 2018-19 school year or reauthorization NC’s State Educator Equity Plan Due June 1, 2015 Must describe the steps the SEA will take to ensure that “poor and minority children are not taught at higher rates than other children by inexperienced, unqualified, or out- of-field teachers.”
