Use one paragraph for your counterclaim. Also, be sure to respond to the opposing claim (rebuttal).

Counterclaim A claim made to offset or disprove another claim

Refute your counterclaim! Claim: Schools should continue selling chocolate milk. Counterclaim: Chocolate milk has a lot of added sugar. Refute the Counterclaim: Although chocolate milk has more sugar than plain low-fat milk, students are still getting a serving of Calcium, and Vitamins A and D, which are valuable to their heath.

Refute your counterclaim! Claim: Physical education should be required by students everyday in school. Counterclaim: Requiring physical education every day will make it more difficult for students to take other elective classes. Refute the counterclaim: Although requiring students to take physical education everyday may not allow students to take all the electives they want, students will be dramatically healthier.
