17. REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM  Alcohol decreases the production of the male sex hormone testosterone.  Women who drink during pregnancy risk giving birth to an infant with Fetal Alcohol System (FAS), a disorder that causes heart malformation, joint problems, growth deficiencies and mental retardation.

18. HOW DOES ALCOHOL TRAVEL THROUGH THE BODY? Once alcohol reaches the stomach it begins to break down the alcohol dehydrogenate enzyme. (Women produce less) 20% of the alcohol then enters the blood. Alcohol is then absorbed in the upper portion of the small intestine.

19. HOW DOES ALCOHOL TRAVEL THROUGH THE BODY? The alcohol-laden blood then travels to the liver via the veins and capillaries of the digestive tract.  The liver cells are the only cells in our body that can produce enough enzyme to oxidize alcohol at a decent rate.  Alcohol effects all organs, but its most dramatic affect is on the liver.
