Intro to Motion
2
Displacement The vector of distance travelled Units= meters Xf= final displacement, where you end up Xi= initial displacement, where you start
3
Velocity V=x/t Units= meters/seconds How fast you are going Vf= final velocity, how fast you are going at the end of the movement. Vi= initial velocity, how fast you are going at the beginning of the movement.
4
Acceleration How much your velocity is changing. A=v/t Units = meters/seconds per second
5
Velocity Equation Vf=Vi+a*t This equation tells us how fast you are travelling after a certain amount of time.
6
Position Equation Xf=Xi+Vi*t+1/2*a*t^2 This equation gives us the final position after a movement. This equation can be rearranged to find vi, a, or t.
7
Free Fall The only acceleration acting on us as we fall is acceleration due to gravity. We can then use g=a in our equations. Vf=Vi+g*t Xf=Xi+Vi*t+1/2*g*t^2
