Political Party Organization National Level: –Each party has a national committee, which raises funds for the presidential candidates and national convention –A national party chairperson runs the committee –They recruit candidates, teach them effective campaign strategies, and give them funds

National Level: –National committee organizes the national convention where party delegates from each state nominate candidates from Prez and VP –Delegates are chosen through caucuses –Each party also has House and Senate campaign committees

State Level: –Each party has 50 state committees –Focus on electing candidates to state offices: governor, attorney general, state legislators

Local Level: –Consists of numerous city, town, and county committees –Each city/county is divided into precincts The precinct captain organizes volunteers to help with the campaigns and on election day –Counties have committees headed by a county chairperson

Higher level party leaders rely on local leaders to build the party –Local leaders get to know the issues in their communities
