Storm Water Management Plan Lawrence County, PA Katelyn Zollos CE 549
2
Objective To create a model of the Big Run watershed in Lawrence county and to make recommendations based off of this model to improve the area’s stormwater management. http://www.southnewcastle.com/
3
Study Area -Big Run Watershed -Lawrence County -Close to New Castle, Pennsylvania -About 4 square miles
4
Data PHASE ONE (Completed) –Hydrologic conditions and Watershed Characteristics –Problem areas from Community Survey PHASE TWO –Streamflow and Rain Gauge Data –Design Storms for 2-, 10-, 25-, 50-, and 100- year storm events –Existing Stormwater facilities and flood control projects
5
Techniques & Methodology –Arc Hydro –Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) to delineate subwatersheds –Delineate stream network –GeoHMS is used to create HMS –Model is run for each of the 5 storms for each of the delineated subwatersheds –Hydrographs found for each point –Analysis of the model to find problem areas
6
Final Products –Recommendations for drainage improvements based off the subwatershed models. –Tables for the rainfall depths at different frequency durations that are computed during modeling. http://www.fish.state.pa.us/anglerboater/photocontest/2002/02photoMAIN/02resources1.htm
