Activity 92: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Warm up: what is one similarity and one difference between longitudinal and transverse waves?

Activity 91 UC Assessment Activity 91 UC assessment is due tomorrow by the end of SDL.

Activity 91 Analysis Questions Longitudinal Amplitude

Activity 91 Analysis Questions Transverse Amplitude

Activity 91 Analysis Questions Longitudinal Frequency

Activity 91 Analysis Questions Transverse Frequency

Supplemental Packet Draw a wave with an amplitude of 2 m, a wave height of 4 m, and a wavelength of 4 m.

Supplemental Packet Draw the same wave, but with a wavelength of 2 m.

Supplemental Packet What does one full wave cycle of a transverse wave look like? What does one full cycle of a longitudinal wave look like?

Activity 91 In Case You Missed It… Longitudinal wave: one that transfers energy through compressions and rarefactions in the material that it is travelling through. Examples: seismic waves/earthquakes; sound waves.

Activity 91 In Case You Missed It… Transverse wave: a wave with a motion perpendicular to the material through which it is moving. Example: light wave, ocean wave

Activity 91 In Case You Missed It… Be sure to know and understand how each of those waves look when the amplitude or frequency is altered! Analysis question #5

Quiz You are allowed to use your 3x5 notecard. When you are finished, turn it in to the gray bin.

Activity 92: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Please open your books to page F19.

Activity 92: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss For years, scientists have known that 85 dB is the limit for human hearing. Exposure to sounds louder than that for extended amounts of time can cause significant damage. How loud are your headphones? Having your volume set at about 70% is the 85 dB limit.

Activity 92: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss With a partner, complete Part A and Part B of your procedure. You have 10 minutes to do Part A! Do Part B on the back of your graph paper from Part A. If you finish, work on your analysis questions for homework.

Activity 92: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss PART A

Tonight’s Homework Complete Activity 92 analysis questions. Read Activity 93: The Nature of Waves Make a new page in OneNote Complete Reading Guide (Content Library)
