What is it? Road Systems Rationalization Project Purpose: To better understand and rationalize all of the processes used by MoFR during the lifecycle of a road (i.e. applications, tenuring, maintenance and inspection processes, etc.) And Modify existing applications – or build new as required -- to support the steps in the rationalized business processes.

Why Now? Road Systems Rationalization Project Potential introduction of Roads Capitalization application (RCAP) Re-introduction of roads reporting (ABR) Resource Road Act Roads data is stored in multiple systems – many associated issues

How? Road Systems Rationalization Project Phase I – General Requirements Gathering Assess current Business Processes Identify opportunities for improvement Collate findings in a General Business Requirements document Proceed to Phase II with approval from senior management

How? Road Systems Rationalization Project Phase II – Implementation Proposed process flows will be updated Detailed business requirements will be developed Systems may be modified/developed as required

Outcomes Road Systems Rationalization Project Streamlined Business Processes Meaningful and efficient System Applications Improved data quality Greater understanding, by all users, of roads-related processes and business needs

Timeline Road Systems Rationalization Project Project began in October 2008 Three Regional Requirements-gathering Workshops have been held (Prince George, Kamloops, Nanaimo) General Business Requirements document due March 31, 2009 Approval for Phase II expected April 2009
