Vladimir Lenin – exiled Russian revolutionary who returned to Russia after the revolution & installed Karl Marx’s communism in Russia & became their 1 st Communist leader Totalitarian state – form of government in which one – party dictatorship attempts to regulate every aspect of the lives of citizens New Economic Policy – plan instituted by Lenin in 1921 that privatized some industries.

End of the Russian Revolution 1. After several months of fighting the Czar’s soldiers, Lenin takes over as Communist leader. Changes made by Lenin 1.Executed the Czar & his family to prevent any further uprising from the Romanov Dynasty. 2.Seized land from the nobles & the church to give to landless peasants. 3.Ended Russian involvement in WWI by surrendering territory to Germany. 4.Jailed & executed political opponents & those loyal to the Czar. 5.Began the New Economic Policy. Its goal was to modernize & industrialize Russia. It was financed by the money stripped from the upper class of Russia’s society.
