Approximately 1,800 babies are diagnosed with CP each year, especially in UK.

Cerebral Palsy is a neurological conditions. It largely affects brain and nervous system.

CP is a non-progression disorder of movement, muscle tone or posture that is caused by an insult to the immature, developing brain, most often before birth.

Signs and symptoms appear during infancy or preschool years, which is first 3 years of life.

There are three types of CP, such as: Spastic cerebral palsy — causes stiffness and movement difficulties Athetoid cerebral palsy — leads to involuntary and uncontrolled movements Ataxic cerebral palsy — causes a disturbed sense of balance and depth perception

Causes Infection in early pregnancy A difficult or premature birth Bleeding in the baby’s brain Abnormal brain development in the baby

Epilepsy Learning difficulties Incontinence Visual impairment Hearing impairment Difficulties speaking or understanding Delayed growth Curved spine (scoliosis) Drooling Difficulty with swallowing Eye muscle imbalance. Reduced range of motion at various joints of their bodies Muscle stiffness

There is no cure for CP. A range of treatments can help relieve symptoms and increase a child's sense of independence and self-esteem. These include physiotherapy, occupational therapy and medication.
