7 EL Long Term Pilot Summer Course 7 This summer course aligns with the district’s primary mission to... help all students learn the skills, acquire the knowledge, and develop the behaviors necessary for them to reach their full potential as citizens who can meet the challenges of a changing society. #D214CareerAcademy

8 EL Long Term Pilot Summer Course High School District 214 8 This course places emphasis on learning experiences that enable students to: build a foundation for decision-making and engage in the learning process through the application and relevance of the career pathway model, ensuring a successful transition to life after high school. #D214CareerAcademy

9 Overview of Summer Career Academy District 214 provided 33 current LTEL and exited students a summer program that aligns with our district’s efforts to engage all students in authentic experiences leading to expanded post secondary opportunities and leadership skills. Focus was on career exploration, exposure to elective pathway courses, and enrichment experiences that: ▪ build background knowledge of post-secondary opportunities ▪ career skills - (resume, interviews) ▪ academic strategies - course selection ▪ leadership skills ▪ culminating capstone project #D214CareerAcademy

14 Student Experiences and Impact High School District 214 14 ● 20% increase in student awareness of electives related to careers of interest ● 94% of the students were able to identify a strong interest in one of the 16 career clusters ● Over 90% of the students developed short term and long term goals ● Minimal increase in awareness of Financial Aid options. This continues to be an area of need. ● About 87% of students said they felt they had the tools and experience to work on future goals more independently ● The percentage of students who desired to attend a four-year college increased by almost 20% #D214CareerAcademy
