CRETE MINOAN CIVILIZATION THE MYTH OF THE MINOTAUR

In the middle of bright seashore there is an island, Crete, beautiful and full of fruit and having all around sea. There are too many people and towns on it. Knossos is a big town and Minos is its king who was speaking with Zeus every nine years. HOMER This was written by Homer, the poet of Iliad and Odyssey.

CRETE IS AN ISLAND BETWEEN EUROPE AND AFRICA IT IS AT THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF MEDITERRANEAN SEA

MINOS CREATED THE MINOAN CIVILIZATION. HE WAS THE SON OF GOD ZEUS AND EUROPE

Talos was a giant robot made by the god Hephaestus. It was the guardian of Crete. That’s why there was no need for walls around the cities of Crete.

Daedalus, a famous Athenean craftsman was living in Minos’ palace. He created the Maze where Minotaur was living. Minotaur was a monster who used to eat people.

Theseus was the son of Aegeus. Every year Aegeus, the king of Athens, had to send 14 young people to Minos for Minotaur’s food. Theseus decided to go to Crete as one of the 14 teenagers and kill Minotaur. He was wearing the sandals and keeping the sword of his father that he had found under a very heavy rock.

Ariadne, Minos’ daughter, helped him. Daedalus gave a ball of thread to her and she gave it to Theseus to get out of the maze when he kills Minotaur.

Theseus killed Minotaur. Minos was very angry with Daedalus. So Daedalus made wings with candle to fly away with his son Icarus. But Icarus flied too close to the sun and his wings were destroyed. Icarus fell down into the sea. Since then this point of sea was called Icarian sea.
