Definitions Phase Diagram: summarizes the effect of temperature and pressure on a substance in a closed container. Triple Point: indicates the temperature and pressure conditions at which the solid, liquid, vapor of the substance can coexist at equilibrium. Critical Point: indicates the critical temperature and critical pressure. Critical Temperature: is the temperature above which the substance cannot exist in the liquid state. Critical Pressure: lowest pressure at which the substance can exist as a liquid at the critical temperature.

Fizz Inflator Lab The baking soda and the vinegar create an ACID-BASE reaction and the two chemicals work together to create a gas. Gases need a lot of room to spread out and the carbon dioxide starts to fill the bottle, and then moves into the balloon to inflate it. Materials Erlenmeyer flask ½ cup of vinegar Baking soda Balloon Funnel Procedure 1.Carefully pour the vinegar into the bottle. 2.Loosen the balloon by stretching it a few times and then use the funnel to fill it a bit more than half way with baking soda. 3.Now carefully put the neck of the balloon all the way over the neck of the bottle without letting any baking soda into the bottle. 4.Lift the balloon up so that the baking soda falls from the balloon into the bottle and mixes with the vinegar.
