1 NANO TECHNOLOGY Bhimavaram Institute of Engineering &Technology
A REVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENCE A.Lakshmi Pavani Priyanka and G. Silpa II B.Tech Bhimavaram Institute of Engineering &Technology Pennada - Bhimavaram, W.G.Dt

2 Definition: “Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional systems at the molecule state”. This covers both current work and concepts that are more advanced.

3 Passive Nanostructures (2000) Active Nanostructures (2005)
GENERATIONS: Passive Nanostructures (2000) Active Nanostructures (2005) Systems of Nanosystems (2010) Molecular Nanosystems (2020)

4 PREPARATION OF NANOMATERIALS:
Chemical Methods: Sol-gel process Chemical combustion Spray pyrolysis

5 PREPARATION OF NANOMATERIALS:
Mechanical Processes: Grinding Milling Mechanical alloying

6 PREPARATION OF NANOMATERIALS:
PHYSICAL METHODS: Electrical wire explosion method for producing nano powders Chemical vapor deposition and physical vapor deposition methods for producing nanothin films Laser ablation method for producing any nano materials Plasma arcing methods

7 Schematic illustration of the process involved in the synthesis and purification of fullerenes. Graphite rods evaporated in an arc, under Helium atmosphere.

8 SEMICONDUCTOR QUANTUM DOTS
Semiconductor quantum dots are also known as semiconductor nanocrystals Quantum dots have no freedom in any dimension and electrons are said to be localized at a point, implying that a change in all directions changes the properties. Confinements along one direction results in a quantum wire, leaving the electrons move only along one direction.

9 TYPES OF SEMICONDUCTOR NANOCRYSTALS
Quantization of the electronic density of states as a result of variation in the dimentsionality of materials.

10 MONOLAYER-PROTECTED METAL NANOPARTICLES
Colloidal Solution (10- 50nm diameters) has been formed when gold or silver salt is boiled with a higher concentration of sodium citrate for a few minutes. The 3D monolayers or monolayer protected metal clusters belong to this category of materials.

11 BRUST METHOD OF PREPARING MONOLAYER PROTECTED CLUSTERS:

12 CARBON NANOTUBES A carbon nanotube wound like a paper straw makes for a miniature semiconductor. This is just one of its many applications in electronics. Nanotubes-the hollow threads of carbon are going to change the world. Their honeycomb lattice of carbon atoms is the stuff of Engineers’ dream

13 FABRICATION OF CARBON NANOTUBES
The carbon nanotubes can be fabricated by many techniques like: Laser evaporation Chemical vapor deposition Carbon arc method.

14 TYPES OF CARBON NANOTUBES
Carbon Nanotubes can be fabricated in TWO types, i.e. Single-Walled and Multi-Walled

15 APPLICATIONS OF NANOTECHNOLOGY
Nanotechnology has wide applications in various fields like: Medicine Diagnostics Tissue engineering Chemistry and environment Filtration Energy Information and communication systems Optoelectronic devices Quantum computers, etc.

16 EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN NANOSCALE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Frontier Sciences and Technologies represent a true opportunity to enhance a country’s qualitative and quantitative level of human capital. These are essential for a more sustainable economic, human and social development. In recent years, the academic world has begun to react to the expansion of the nano phenomenon.

17 NANOTECHNOLOGY ASKS US !
To get Excellence of NANOTECHNOLOGY, What is our Contribution ? ? ?
