When: February 22-26, 2016 Where: YMCA Camp Storer is located in Napolean, MI, just southeast of Jackson. What: Camp Storer is a hands-on environmental education classroom with 1,200 acres of forest, wetland trails, and a 300 acre lake. This environment provides the ultimate outdoor classroom to elementary and middle school students.

The teachers at Pattengil, Angell, and Rogers choose classes that correlate with the fifth grade science and social studies curriculum. Explore the differences between reptiles and amphibians Outdoor Education Learn about the importance of shelter as a basic human need.

Learn about early American settlers and pioneering tools. Outdoor Education Learn about Native American life through games and simulations.

Go horseback riding and learn how to properly care for a horse. Outdoor Education Use a GPS system to practice cardinal directions.

Accommodations For accommodations, students will stay in either a rustic, wooded, all-season cabin with nearby restrooms or lodges featuring fireplaces and indoor restroom facilities.

Malachi Nutritious, wholesome and delicious meals are served family style in our dining halls. Students are encouraged to eat as much as they want, keeping in mind that zero waste is the ultimate goal at camp.

Cost The total cost for 5 days of camp is $225 per child thanks to the support of our PTA. This includes room and board, food, outdoor education classes, and bus transportation.

Camp Orientation In January, students will receive a packet with detailed information regarding what to bring, health forms, drop off times, etc. Camp Storer staff will visit Angell and the Berkley School District to talk with students and parents about the program and answer questions.

A $50 deposit is due by June 1 st 2015 Three smaller payments – Oct. 1, Nov. 2, Dec. 1 Payment for camp must be paid in full by January 29, 2016. Angell PTA donation, $75 per student ($225 Total) Can I Afford Camp?

“I love camp because you do fun things. You play games and you meet lots of new people. You go horseback riding, see a farm, and learn about reptiles. You have a cabin leader who is very nice. For the whole week, it is like you have a new family.” “Camp was the best time of my life. The best camp leader was Matt. He was cool. The food was great too and the games were fun. But meeting new friends like Aiden and Tray was the best.”
