PSAE Trends in Student Achievement Elmwood PSAE test results have increased then decrease each of the last 6 years in Math, Science, and Writing. The Reading scores have been going up from 2004’s 66% Meets/Exceeds to 2009’s 73%.

ACT Trends in Student Achievement ACT test trends show yearly fluctuations for Reading, Math, and English. All 3 dropped between 6%-15% in 2009. Science scores have increased over the last 3 years going from 21% to 33% to 40% meeting ACT College Readiness Benchmark.

The % in the Education Fund and Transportation Fund have been increasing since 2000.

Student Expenditure Rates Instructional Expenditures and Operating Expenditures have increased at Elmwood each year. Revenues will have to increase and future school budgets and building/grounds projects will have to be evaluated each year.

Elmwood Revenue Percentages Elmwood is relying more on state funding each year and less on local property taxes. The Illinois State Budget will become an important focus in how our school is funded.

Administration? …while the teacher salaries are above the Illinois state average, the administrative salaries are below Other? … Elmwood spends more on Instructional Costs than the Illinois state average Fund expenditures? … the Ed. Farmington is twice as large as both schools Elmwood has the smallest class size at 13 students per class Elmwood also has the highest attendance rate at 95.9% Even though Elmwood has the smallest high school population, we has a larger class 11 test group than Brimfield. This would show how we have peaks and valleys in our class sizes (by year)

PSAE Math In 2009, Farmington was slightly higher in Math with a 63% to Elmwood’s 59%. Elmwood had more in the exceeds category with 13%.

Research Based Instructional Practices Education / Curriculum Planning Teachers are trained in the best instructional practices to help improve student achievement Instructional practices are research based Professional development that is related to improving student achievement and professional learning committees are created Student learning goals are evaluated Goals are assessed Assessments are evaluated and results/data is used to guide teaching practices and curriculum

Setting SMART Goals using Data Walk-Throughs and Administrative Monitoring Make sure yearly goals are determined Make sure the goals are SMART as they relate to student achievement Using the data to make decisions Make sure achievement goals are relate to SIP Focused walk-throughs to collect data on instruction practices Analysis of data by administration to determine school is making AYP in reading and math Administrative team uses “change models”
