1 What is the HazMat solution GS1 is offering?
Joke Op den Acker and Tom Depoorter – GS1 Belgium & Luxembourg Brussels, 7th of March 2016

2 Agenda Exchange of Master Data is not new Digital assets Data quality
Data exchange statistics via GDSN Data exchange for the DIY sector

3 Exchange of master data is not new
Solution for exchanging data using GDSN in the FMCG sector

4 Supplier and product information

5 Supplier and product information
Is needed for several reasons: Logistic planning Shelf planning (+ pack shots) E-commerce Consumers asking questions Legislation (eg. Food regulation for consumers, REACH, …) Master data is crucial! But not always efficiently shared!

6 Data Exchange today From a situation where…

7 Data Exchange Standards
To ONE access point… GDSN data pool

8 Global Data Synchronisation Network
An interconnected network of interoperable data pools and a global registry that enables companies around the globe to exchange standardised and synchronised supply chain data with their trading partners. To everybody Anywhere Synchronise all your data in one movement

9 Which data can be exchanged via GDSN?
GTIN Name of the product Brand Core data Measurements (Height, width, dept) Pallet information (#layers, items per layer, # of layers) Stacking factor Logistical data all e-commerce related data (such as use and storage instructions, length of the power cord, ingrediënts, …) Consumer data Risk phrases Dangerous goods class SDS number Hazardous goods information

10 Which data can be exchanged via GDSN?
Let’s take a FMCG example… GTIN: GLN InformationProvider: TradeItemDescription: Imperial Topping Dame Blanche 1l TradeItemTaxRate: 6% Height: 263 millimeter Width: 80 millimeter Depth: 80 millimeter NetContent: 1 liter PackagingTypeCode: Bottle IsTradeItemAnOrderableUnit: False

11 How does GDSN work? Global Registry CDB GS1 DAS Supplier Retailer
2. Register data 4. Subscription 4. Subscription CDB GS1 DAS 5. Pub/sub match = synchronise data 1. Load data 4. Subscription 3. Release and publish 5. Doorsturen productinfo Supplier Retailer 11

12 Digital assets DAM (Digital Asset Management)

13 Digital Asset Management (DAM)
Complete data solution providing the possibility to suppliers and retailers to exchange a full data set. Integrated solution in the current infrastructure: the technical partner behind the CDB (1Worldsync) has created an add-on service to the data pool that can be used to exchange digital assets (Pictures, SDS, manuals,…)

14 How does the DAM work ? GDSN GDSN DP CDB
3. The URL to the image will automatically be added to the product data 1. Supplier creates Product sheet in the CDB 2. Supplier uploads image in the GS1/1WS DAM 6. Retailer uses URL to access and download the image 5. Retailer downloads the product sheet 4. Supplier publishes data to the retailer(s) GS1/1WS DAM SUPPLIER RETAILER

15 Data quality

16 GS1 Data Quality Strategy
3 pillars for DQ improvement A Priori Quality checks for new members Monitoring via the GS1 Data Checker Physical Audits

17 Evaluate data quality It is a dashboard ! Shows the results
Shows the test failures Shows the entered values A supplier can TEST a correction But CAN’T correct the data in the Data Checker itself  make the corrections in your data source

18 Data exchange statistics

19 Statisctics Belgilux Worldwide +/- 300 members on CDB
> connections from/to CDB worldwide Retailers and foodservice using GDSN: Delhaize (live) Colruyt (2016) Carrefour (2016) Makro (2016) Java (testing now) Bidvest (testing now) Worldwide GLNs registered worldwide +/ GTINs registered worldwide

20 Exchanging master data
Conclusion: Sharing master data via the GDSN standard of GS1 is already widly used in FMCG Allign with surrounding countries and at EU level Why should we reinvent the wheel for the DIY sector? Why not benefit from the experience and knowlegde gained in FMCG?

21 Exchange master data for DIY-products
Same data source, same flow But other data model Why reinvent the wheel?

22 Exchange master data for DIY-products
CDB Product Data Pool + DAM structured product data (+ link to files in DAM) Data Supplier Data Recipient Recipient unstructured product data validates HazMat data & extracts / maps relevant attributes into GDSN XML DAM

23 Exchange master data for DIY-products
CDB Product Data Pool + DAM Data model some differences with FMCG POWER (Watt)? Recipient + NUTRIENTS?

24 Exchange master data for DIY-products
CDB Product Data Pool + DAM structured product data (+ link to files in DAM) Data Supplier Data Recipient Recipient unstructured product data DAM

25 Exchange master data for HazMat
Same data source, same flow DIY data model with extra attributes AND extra QUALITY-SERVICE

26 CDB Hazmat attributes

27 Hazardous Materials Compliance-service
CDB Product Data Pool + DAM Data Supplier Data Recipient Recipient validates HazMat data & extracts / maps relevant attributes into GDSN XML DAM

28 Non-validation of SDS

29 Benefits of HMC in nutshell
Compliance with regulations Extract SDS => Input CDB Authentic data Permanent revision
