2 * No gum chewing/eating in class- candy Friday! * Major Personality Theories/ Theorists “Character Collage” Psych II Group Work HW/ Coming up: Major Personality Theories/Theorists “Character Collage” due tomorrow halfway through class! Goal(s): Be able to explain a personality theory your group is reading about. 1.Pick up the bell work handout from the side counter before the bell rings. 2.Get started on the bell work right away. To Do As You Walk In:

3 * It is your responsibility to check these before you come up to ask me why you have a 0 for an assignment when you think you have turned it in. * If there is an assignment in there that is yours and you forgot to write your name on there, write your name on it and place it in the missing work bin. I will grade it when I grade the rest of the assignments in that bin.

4 * Red- Project Designer… The Project Designer designs and creates the look of the final project for the group. * Blue- Reporter… The Reporter reports the small group’s work to the whole class. * Silver- Timekeeper… The Timekeeper keeps track of the time and makes sure that the group finishes their task on time. * Green- Gatekeeper… The Gatekeeper makes sure that everyone is on task. * Yellow- Main Facilitator… The Main Facilitator leads the discussion, making sure that everyone within the group is participating. * Someone not here- you all take over his/her job

5 Once completed, place the posters on top of the side closet. What is a caricature of a person? What needs to be on this project: caricature - A caricature (a drawing in which certain characteristics will be exaggerated) of the psychologist that is famous for that theory that you received collage words and pictures - A collage around the picture filled with words and pictures illustrating key components of the theory

6 8 th period- place chairs on top of desks please! Write your name and ALWAYS explain your answer. Which theory of personality did your group have? Do you agree with it? Explain why or why not.

HW/ Coming up: Nothing Goal(s): Be able to explain a personality theory your group completed a poster about, as well as the other personality theories the other groups present on 1.Get started on the bell work right away. To Do As You Walk In:

10 * The Reporter (blue) presents, but all members of group need to be in the front of the room. * If the Reporter isn’t here, every group member will present together. * The rest of students- take notes on each personality theory as the groups present * Name of each personality theory and its theorists. * Main ideas of how that theory explains behavior. * Be respectful and stay quiet! Take 20 minutes to finish. Once done, place materials and readings/pictures of psychologists on the side counter.

Be able to compare and contrast the functions of the three parts of the mind according to Freud. 1. Place the readings from yesterday’s group activity on the turn in table (if you kept them). 2. Get started on the bell work right away. To Do As You Walk In:

15 * Id/Ego/Superego * Decision Making Scenario- Psych II Group Work * (Freud Characters- Defense Mechanisms Activity) HW/ Coming up: Freud Characters- Defense Mechanisms due Tuesday! Goal(s): Be able to evaluate psychodynamic/psychoanalytic personality theories. Be able to compare and contrast the functions of the three parts of the mind according to Freud. 1. Place the readings from yesterday’s group activity on the turn in table (if you kept them). 2. Get started on the bell work right away. To Do As You Walk In:

16 * - lived and worked during the Victorian era - shift in values, emphasis placed on proper dress and behavior - sex was never discussed openly - Freud’s theories sharply contrasted with the mores of the time - societal values a reason for why people repressed their feelings - personality largely created in childhood, based on how a child deals with conflicts that arise in their life

17 Id: - instinctive urges (aggression or erotic urges) -pleasure principle -Ex. lying THE WANTS Ego: -mostly conscious, rational -reality principle THE BALANCE Super Ego: - advocates what you should do -moral principle THE CONSCIENCE

18 Preconscious: Information which can easily be made conscious Conscious: Information in your immediate awareness Unconscious: Thoughts, feelings, urges, and other information that is difficult to bring to conscious awareness

19 * Work on this with your group members. * Due today at the end of class. * Wait to turn in until then! * Once completed, pick up the Freud Characters handout from the side counter and start working on that.

20 * With your bell work partner(s), complete the Freud Characters- Defense Mechanisms Activity. * Due Tuesday! * Wait to turn in until then! * You will have tomorrow in class to finish this.

21 * Compare and contrast the functions of the three parts of the mind according to Freud. * In your notes section…

22 * Provide an example of when you had a dilemma, maybe something bad you wanted to do, such as breaking a curfew. * What did the ID want you to do? * What about the EGO? * What about the SUPER EGO?
