1 YILANKALE

2 Yilankale or better known as Snake Castle is a late 12th century Armenian castle in Adana Province of Turkey. There are several legends about how Snake Castle got it's name. One of them is that the castle got it's name is due to a Turkish legend in which it belongs to the Şahmeran, the king of snakes. One explanation is it’s named Snake Castle because it’s long and skinny like a snake.

3 Kızkalesi

4 Kızkalesi (English: Maiden's castle): Kızkalesi is a castle situated on a small island in Mersin Province of Turkey. The castle was probably built by Alexios l., komnenos of Byzantine Empire. It was rebuilt or repaired during the reign of Leo I., Cilician Kingdom of Armenia in 1199. The building material seems to be from the stones of a former building. Probably there was an older building in place of Kızkalesi.
