draft-levin-simple-interdomain- reqs-03 (in 3 minutes or less) Edwin Aoki, America Online (representing the authors)
2
History/Motivation Began as a way to describe and record the issues we encountered when interconnecting IM communities (public, enterprise, etc.) –Experience from 4 different implementations (service providers and enterprises) contributed to the draft Intended to inform the WG about our experiences –Oftentimes, specifications exist, but their usage may not standardized (or wasn’t at the time of writing) –Additional detail discovered during implementation Was never intended to prescribe a particular connection or peering model for SIP in general
3
State of the Doc Currently in -03 revision (published just before Paris) –Some controversy on SIPPING re: TLS, MESSAGE inside session, need for administrative authority at all (most of these comments were on the -02 version). –We will not be discussing these issues here We would like to use this I-D as a way to record BCPs from several real-world implementations –Will continue to refine the document based on add’l experience and ongoing IETF work (e.g. MSRP) –Seeking input on how to proceed: as WG item, BCP RFC, and/or individual submission.
