9 Two Cultures - Different Learning Styles In Grades 4 to 6, EP students have to adapt to the different styles of learning and teaching in each subject. Same Attitude and Effort High standards of behaviour and good Thai manners are expected in all subjects and for all teachers.

10 E.P. Skills Reading, spelling, dictation, and grammar are practiced in E.P. Skills. Every Week EP Skills Activities Spelling or Dictation Given 15 words. There will also be 3 ‘bonus words’ which go towards their score. The boys will be given words to learn, which will be tested in a paragraph of writing. Reading We will read as a class and have activities for comprehension and enjoyment of the story. Occasional Activities Discussion Discussion groups to develop the skills of compromising, giving opinions, listening to others. Speaking One-on-one speaking test assessed on fluency, accuracy, pronunciation and communication (once per term).

11 Grade 6 Textbooks and Workbooks We use My Pals Are Here! textbooks and workbooks:

12 iPads This year, boys in Grades 4, 5 and 6 can bring their iPad to school. We also have some school iPads for boys who cannot bring one. The iPads will be used as a learning tool in class and for extension work at home.

13 Edmodo and Brain Pop Every boy in Grade 6 needs to be enrolled on Edmodo and have the code to use Brain Pop. Edmodo Code: Links, presentations, movies and quizzes on here for students to do. Brain Pop Code: fun online learning at school and home.

14 EP ACP Learner Profile We will always use English in class; We will be responsible for ourselves and our classmates; We will work well with others and help each other; We will care for our environment; We will try our best at all times, in school and in life; and Most importantly, we will be kind to others.

17 Speaking English ONLY in class In order for your son to improve his English we use the traffic light system to encourage him to speak in class. After 3 times a letter will be sent home.

18 Grade 6 Exams and Authentic Assessment A large percentage of assessment comes from Authentic Assessment of skills as well as knowledge. 23 Grade 6 Maths Students keep portfolios and work books in Math and should be looked at daily to make sure they are keeping up with the work.

24 Grade 6 PE Keeping fit and learning new skills through a mixture of sport and fitness activities in P.E. class every Friday.

25 Grade 6 Science Doing scientific investigations, researching and testing hypotheses and learning new theories.
