Lateral Area lateral faces – the faces that are not bases. lateral area – the sum of the areas of the lateral faces. The formula for lateral area is L=Ph where L=lateral area P=perimeter h=height

EX 4: Eddie and Dustin are painting the interior of a room at a homeless shelter for community service. The dimensions of the room are 25ft. x 35 ft. x 12 ft. One gallon of paint covers about 400 square feet. If they only have to paint the walls (not the ceiling or floor), how much paint should they buy?

EX 5: The lateral area of a triangular prism is 120 square feet. If the base of the prism is a right triangle with legs that are 3 and 4 ft long, what is the height of the prism?
