Life long/wide learning as a key concept Articulating diversities The EU policy conference (10 to 11th June 2002) today -Covering all levels of qualification or/and cooperate with other EU members - multiplying learning opportunities and outcomes -No limits of age to learn -Learning as personal development and cultural activity also (not only (adjustment to labour markets and to mobility regarding opportunities) -Mutual systems of recognition (« professional platforms ») -Identification, assessment and recognition (not only with a diploma) of all kinds of learnings (non-formal, formal, informal…) respecting democratic values of EU members (free will, critical thinking, equality…)

How learning facilitors and providers through quality sets are accountable for their learning impacts on Society, economy, environment and invididuals? Accountability as a key principle of Corporate social responsability of learning facilitators (LF) To be answerable to: -The controlling interests of organizations/learning activities -Legal authorities with regard to laws and regulations -Those affected by its decisions and activities (stakeholders as other organizations, groups and individuals in civil society) Core meanings related to human rights (life, liberty, equality before the law and Freedom of expression + social and cultural rights (education, social security, health, work…) - Inclusion of vulnerable groups, avoidance of discriminations (women and girls…) Core meanings related to individuals’ and groups developments through education: Critical thinking, individual and collective empowerment, citizenship (taking into account diversified pedagogies regarding ages and targets)

4 4 A Prospective approach to enrich processes Cooperation Prospective of present (2 to 5 years) Classical approach Consultation of non-experts and members of civil society as stakeholders + experts and representative actors Exploring the positive and negative consequences to make choices (making scenarios, « if not, so what? ») Taking into account « soft » tendencies Strategic foresight (till 2000) Consultation of representative actors and experts only (i.e. The Delphy method) Starting with a predefined goal (articulation between sub-systems of VET and HE) Taking into account heavy tendencies (gaps, non-satisfaction…) Show off of best practices (and so what?)
